Likeness Use Policy

The short version: Witprinted prints names you provide, and (in Phase 2) cartoon portraits derived from photos you upload. By submitting, you confirm you have the right to use that name or photo. We refuse and refund orders for real public figures, and we will remove your name from a future order at your request.

1. Whose name may you submit?

• Your own name. Always allowed.
• A friend's, family member's, or colleague's name, where the item is intended as a gift and the person would not reasonably object. By placing the order, you represent that this is the case.
• Not allowed: the name of a person you intend to mock, harass, defame, or shame; the name of a real public figure (politicians, celebrities, athletes, trademarked fictional characters) that we maintain on our blocklist.

2. How we screen names

We maintain a blocklist of public figures' names and known offensive terms. Submissions that match a blocklist entry are refused before any AI generation occurs and your payment, if any, is refunded. Our blocklist is not exhaustive — if a name slips through that should not have, see §5 below.

3. Phase 2: photos

For image-based products in Phase 2, the consent checkbox you must tick before upload reads:

"I am the person in this photo, OR I have permission from them to use their likeness for a personalised printed product. I understand the photo will be used by an AI model to generate a stylised cartoon portrait, will be deleted within 24 hours of fulfillment, and will not be used to train any AI model."

Ticking the box is required to upload; the consent record is stored with a server-side timestamp, hashed IP, hashed user-agent, and the exact policy version then in effect. The hashed values let us prove a consent existed without storing personally identifying network data.

Every uploaded photo is scanned with a celebrity-detection model before any AI generation. Photos that match a recognised public figure are refused and your order is refunded. Photos with a confidence below the threshold but where we have a reasonable belief the subject is a public figure may also be refused at our sole discretion.

Uploaded photos are deleted from our storage within 24 hours of order fulfillment and hard-purged within 7 days at the latest. We never retain photos for marketing, training, or any purpose other than producing your specific order. The image AI provider operates under a zero-retention agreement with us and does not retain or train on the photo either.

4. Right of publicity

In jurisdictions that recognise a right of publicity (most US states, varying scope), an individual has the right to control commercial use of their name and likeness. Our policy mirrors this: you may use Witprinted only for your own name or for someone whose permission you have. We will honour valid right-of-publicity takedown requests by removing offending material and stopping production.

5. Removal request

If you believe a Witprinted item bears your name, image, or likeness without your permission — including a gift you didn't authorise that someone else placed — contact us:

• Email hello@witprinted.com with subject "Likeness Removal".
• Identify the order (order ID or recipient name + approximate date) or attach a photo of the item.
• Confirm that you are the person whose likeness is involved, or are authorised to act on their behalf.

We will:

1. Confirm receipt within 2 business days.
2. If production has not started, halt the order and refund.
3. If the item has shipped or been delivered, add the name to our blocklist so future orders are refused, and (where applicable under your jurisdiction's right-of-publicity law) take further action.
4. Anonymise or delete any record we hold linking your name to that order, on request.

6. We may refuse any order

Even where a name or photo passes automated screening, we reserve the right to refuse production at our sole discretion if we believe the order is intended to harm someone, violates the rights of a third party, or is otherwise inappropriate. Where we refuse after payment, we refund in full.

7. Indemnification

By placing an order, you indemnify Sawary Trading LLC against any claim arising out of your unauthorised use of someone else's name or likeness through Witprinted. See Terms §12.
